SPEECH AWARDS

FAR NORTH QUEENSLAND’S TOP STUDENTS

Calvary Christian College, Townsville, hosted the presentation of Excellence Awards on behalf of the Australian College of Music. A small crowd of parents and students assembled to congratulate the recipients of these special awards.  Before the presentation of the awards took place, the audience was treated to some fine performances from the students. Two students from Ann Murrell’s studio joined the performance list for the occasion.

The gold and silver medals are awarded to the top candidates in each grade level for Speech and Drama as well as Speaking and Communicating. Seven awards came to Far North Queensland.

Another special award given by the ACM College is the Patrick Ryan Achievement Award.  Two of these awards are offered each year and one of them was awarded to Calvary student Taylor O’Neill.

The recipients of the Gold and Silver Awards were as follows:

The Awards were presented by Mrs Roslyn McIvor, Speech Co-ordinator for Queensland.

Mrs McIvor brought greetings from the College and spoke about the importance of the opportunities the students had to develop life skills through these subjects.

The evening was concluded with supper.
